Creations from the past...

managed to load them this time! Think our server was on a go slow!
This is the card I made for Hayley and John (parents of my gorgeous godson). They got married last June and Alfie was born just one day short of their 1st anniversary (on father's day..how cute!) Its fairly plain and simple, but I wanted it to co-ordinate with all the wedding stationery I made for them. The panel at the front is acetate and the lilac matches exactly the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses. I have put their monograms top right.

This is the card I made for Lil and Jason who got married the week after. It looked so much prettier in RL. Those lilies really stood out (lilies for Lil...lol) Again, the pink matched the bridesmaid's dresses.
This is one of the scrap book pages I am doing for the little girl next door who is a dancer. Ive done a couple more pages but no pics as yet. I was being quite frugal here as the hearts I punched out round the edge, I used for a small order of wedding invitations I was asked to make...LOL

woooooohooooooooo its Friday!!

and I'm only at work till 1 o'clock!! Got a busy weekend ahead...sister is coming to stay and we are going to Francesca's (step daughter) 18th party! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone, she was 10 when I first met her. Still have no idea what I am going to wear...bearing in mind Chesca's mum etc will all be at the party...should be interesting....lol. I'm trying to decide between casual, elegant or casually elegant.....tough choice.

Anyhoo, I just want to thank you lovely people who read my whingey "I'm so sorry for myself" post and gave me such lovely words of encouragement. I think I'm going through one of my stages at the moment where I am really unhappy with myself, but Ill get over it..usually do. What isn't helping is this rift with my brother, which I have tried to mend, but he hears what he wants to hear so Ill leave it up to him. Apart from anything else though its upsetting my mum. :(

Last night I started a card for one of Mark's workmates who is retiring next week. He is a bike freak so I found a copyright free image of a Norton (old motorbike) and painstakingly cut it out. I might attempt to cut out all the spokes, but don't think I will be able to they are so thin. What I really want to do is layer it onto a map of the area he lives, but a...I don't know how to do that, and b...cant find a decent map...so that's that idea out of the window, I shall rip a page out of one of Mark's old map books instead (whats the betting Ill do that and he'll need it in a weeks time!)

Hmmm I was going to try and show a couple of cards I made last year the pics of which I have just found on my work pc, but cant do it for some reason, I will try later.

Going off for a bit of blurfing now before I start my filing..I WISH I could get into the habit of doing it as I go along, but I am such a procrastinator...lol I am following the flylady and have put a couple of thinsg in place, but, as they say Rome wasnt built in a day!

Anyway, again, thank you for boosting me up when I needed it most...I love you guys!!

OOOOOOh before I forget dont forget to check out all that lovely blog candy out there -

Pass The Butter, Please

This was emailed to me ages ago and I actually read it while cleaning out my folders, and it makes scarily interesting reading. Think Ill do a bit more research before I give up my Flora, but let me know what you think.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.
DO YOU KNOW the difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end; it gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .
And now, for Margarine... Very high in trans fatty acids. Triple risk of coronary heart disease. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol).. Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact; HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING ! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC. This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell different because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weenie microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?
Share This With Your Friends (if you want to 'butter them up')! Chinese Proverb: 'When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.' So... DO IT!

Today I saw an alien in the sky

It was big and round and shiny and WARM. I had to call a couple of the girls out to see it in case my eyes were deceiving me!

Well, I'm getting fed up with me. I sat and coloured 2 images with my prismas last night and just couldn't get it to go right! I had a vision of what I wanted but it didn't translate very well from brain to hand. Oh well..if at first you don't succeed...try again. I guess I'm getting a bit despondent too....you know when you post stuff and hardly anyone looks or comments. I guess I just need a boost now and then. In my journey through the land of blog I do try and read all my updates and try and comment on as many as my annoying connection at work will allow, cos I know how good they make you feel...anyway enough of this wallowing is self pity. Ive had my daily dose!

Talking of blog land..I am so completely and utterly gobsmacked by the amount of stunning creativity going on in the world of craft. You take one stamp...one sketch .one challenge .and people all over the world come up with their own interpretation and its amazing! I do not have the confidence or indeed the talent to join in with these challenges, but glad to see Roz and Shell are taking part...they are both so good at what they do (I name them specifically as I have known them for eons). I have so many blogs in my reader, I can barely get around...lol and each blog links to other amazing blogs...and so on and so on...ok I'm rambling and should be doing the payroll - just waiting for one itty bitty form and then I can get on!

Oh yes got the date for my endoscopy - 29 September ...the letter actually said 2009 but they made a typo so that's something to look forward too!! Got to go to Addenbrookes for that - what a pain!

Yipppee itty bitty form has turned up so I can get on...thanks for "listening" (if you got this far!)

PS Note to self to ask Roz how she does her siggy thingy
