Moving on...

Firstly, thank you to those who read my previous post and made a difference. A few more kids will have smiles this Christmas thanks to you!

Secondly, I am a bad blogger I haven't been here for a while basically cos I keep forgetting to take pix of my makes and secondly I have been feeling like the proverbial poo.

Being told I have pancreatic neuro endocrine tumours, and lots of them has knocked me sideways. I'm not even too sure what it all means but to be told you have these gremlins in your body is a bit of a shock. It looks as though it will be a total removal of the offending pancreas and all the bits that surround,,,spleen, bile duct, gall bladder and part of stomach and intestine. the very fact I am not seeing my consultant till Jan 16th is quite comforting though. I am finding it increasingly difficult to be positive at the moment so please send me those vibes ladies and gents!
One positive note..10 to 12 pounds of instant weight loss in one slice...lol

Christmas cards...I have still not got any more made and doubt I will get the chance now, so I want to say a public thank you to all those who have sent me cards. Marion if you read this your card is gorgeous and I will be emailing you later sweetheart!

I still manage to get to quite a few blogs for a good read, cry, laugh inspiration etc etc and do TRY and leave comments but you all know how it is...life takes over sometimes.

Well, best get back to work...got ANOTHER docs apt this afternoon, WHEN will it all end??

Enjoy the run up to Christmas!

Be back soon XX

PS I hope to find some more candy for you all later XX

making a difference...

Its nearly christmas, just about 5 weeks, and one thing I like to do this time of year is give a little back. I like to donate a little something each year to a charity or cause. Not much, I dont have a lot, but the whole thing about Christmas for me is the giving. Last night I was looking through the blogs I follow and read this - it really touched me, BIG TIME so I made a small donation. Tis is not a begging letter or anything like that, but if you read it and WANT to help, then you can. Shaz, if you read this. I think you are an amazing lady! X

The lovely ladies at funky fairies inspirations have got some fabulous freebie downloads here AND if that wasnt enough some lovely candy here . What more could you want hmmmm? Go check them out...some fabulous things to look at on their blog!

Alfie..

Heres a video I took the other week of my lovely godson - he is coming on leaps and bounds. I will see him tonight first time in 3 weeks and I cant wait!! Now this is the first one I have ever taken on my phone so dont expect a Spileberg Special!!

Another card

Made this for a friend's 40th using a Barbara Clooney kit. Forgot to edit the pics before uploading but you get the idea hopefully!! Also made a similar card for a 15 year old and they both liked it (specially as Id put some money in the matching gift card and envelope for the 15 yo LOL)

Don't faint...I made a card!

One of the guys at work wanted me to make a card for his wife's 60th. My spec was pink, roses and red wine...lol so this is what I came up with - I'm sorry the pics are a bit blurred .

This is the decoration I made for the box it is cream and pink roses with some crystal flowers tied together with pink ribbon. It has a little silver tag attached with "Happy Birthday" and 60 peel offs
This is the box
This is the front of the card - it is basically pink card cut to size and then Ive put some vellum sleeves on then on the front I made and embellishment using cream and pink roses and pearly baby's breath.
In side the card there is another card, but that pic didn't come out ..lol anyway you open it up and inside is this piccie of wine and roses that I found and decoupaged a bit to give it some depth. I really hope he likes it cos it took me HOURS but I am happy with it! It looks heaps better in RL. Let me know what you think ok?? Thanks for looking

The candy man can

Nikki over at http://bunny-zoes.blogspot.com/2008/10/candy-time-high-hopes-blog-hop.html had a birthday on saturday and has the most adorable candy up for grabs, so pop over and say hi and wish her a belated happy birthday and then check out her gorgeous creations on her blog too...It's a win win!!

What!! No candy????

Not just yet anyhow, I havent searched for any yet...Ive been looking for copics here in the UK and OMG they are soooooo expensive! The cheapest set I have found so far ..at £48.95 FOR A SET OF 12!!!!! is here http://www.discountgraphic.co.uk/_COPIC_ORIGINAL_MARKER_SETS_cat_1138.html. If anyone knows where I can get them cheaper, do tell!

I saw a film yesterday on hallmark tv called "Fielder's Choice" and I am pretty sure he was using them (he was an artist) and the colours were absolutely stunning. Well, they looked very much like copics shape wise and he had a milliom of them...every single colour going...so I got my I WANT THOSE head on!!

I actually got round to having a sort out in my shed yesterday and I really have too much stuff, so am going to do a blog candy in a couple of weeks, depending on the outcome at the hospital on Friday, so watch this space! Right, best get on with some work!

Living with MEN

ahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that got your imagination working overtime didnt it??? No?? oh ok then.

Anyway, i though I would dedicate this post to MEN..no not the hunky chunky kind who bring you choccies, send you flowers, love ya to bits DESPITE your hoarding of craft stuff, dont mind TV dinners cos you "just gotta get this card done, blog read, freebie scrap kit downloaded, glitter out of me hair! you know the kind of thing, nooooooooo not MEN but M.E.N. AKA Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, in mine and Paul's case, type 1. OK, before you go switching off with a glazed cross eyed expression, the reason why I am writing this is, well cos I often get asked about it and AMEND (the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders) are trying to bring a lot more awareness of this to a lot more people , particulary the medical profession. I am not going to bore you with all the details, BUT if you are interested, OR yuo know someone with it please do get in touch. I will leave you with a link http://www.amend.org.uk/.

Thanks for looking

Who would have thought...

That i would get SO EXCITED about having nearly 1,000 hits???? Certainly not moi! I have a feeling that most of them are hubby :) Hi honey!!

WEll not much too report today. Saw paul on saturday and he looks well considering. Must admit I have never seen him looking so hmmmm BIG. Hes really struggling with his weight now since the op. Vicky is going to take him swimming. Anyhoo, Went to see mum and my brother, at least we are talking, thats the main thing. Had a real nothing day yesterday. Felt quite under the weather so all I did was stretch out on the sofa and watch Lost!! had to keep pausing it so I could cook dinner etc but really enjoyed it. We have now watch all of season 1 and half of season . I have joined an online DVD rental so we can get the rest of it!! lol, well...they are SO EXPENSIVE to buy.

Oh and you know that card I made ?? That one I forgot to take a pic of so youll have to trust me that it was the best card in the world...EVER...well chappie gave me £10 for it!! I was really chuffed...I told him it cost about £2 to make and that's what he gave me for my trouble. I guess thats the problem with selling cards no one actually sees how much time and trouble goes into making them, especially if they are personalised in any way. He did ask if it was enough as well, but I was well happy!!

I have designed my Christmas cards. I am doing a production line type mainly, using Dove craft Winter Wonderland stuff. So, blue, a bit of white and a lot of bling. I am making little boxes of gift cards for pressies too. Ive still got a couple of orders to do that need doing by next weekend ish so Ill start then.

well will you look at the time, its nearly home time.yipppeeeee so this is short sweet and a wee bit boring, but hey...its my blog and Ill be boring if I want too!! I could tell you a joke, but Deb over at paper ink scissors and stamps http://debneerman.blogspot.com/ is sooooooo much better!!

later peeps X

Told you I would be back soon!

Coffee was great so was the very small (ahem!) piece of Battenburg cake I had to dunk in it! Man, with all this blog candy floating around we are going to get so fat fat FAT, BUT DO I LOOK BOVVERED?? (said of course in my best Catherine Tate impression) (OK I know its soooooo last year dahlings!!)

The lovely Lim http://lim-thevoicesinmyheadlimblog.blogspot.com/, not only makes simply amazing cards, not only will she inspire the glitter off you, NOT ONLY has she some fabulous pictures of Miami Beach on her blog, but has some gorgeous candy to give away too...go have a look if you don't believe me...you will not be disappointed!

Ok best go do a bit more XX

Good Morning Lovely Bloggers and Bloggees

Well the sun is not shining but life is good here in King's Lynn. Busy working, as you can tell!! I am a little miffed cos one of the guys at work asked me to make a card for his wife for their anniversary, which I did, and although I say it myself it was pretty good. I am miffed because I didn't take a picture of it. I have given it to him and he's b******ed off now so I cant ask for it back...derrrr anyway, you'll just have to take my word for it that it was the best card ever made in the world....EVER!!! lol. He liked it, thats the main thing. He is paying me for it on Monday, I have told him what it cost to make and said anything over that will go to charity anyhow so Ill leave it to him. Anyway...nuff of that!

Paul is OK, looks like they will be leaving the rest of his pancreas for a while, and removing his parathyroids as they are now acting up. I'm so glad he has Vicky now as I know she will be there to help him in his recovery. Parathyroid op is fairly straight forward, I had it done myself a while back. JUST think if I didn't have that op, I might never have met Roz and Mandy!!

Okie dokie its CANDY TIME!!!!!!!

get yourselves over to http://mar1ene.wordpress.com/ where Marlene not only has a great blog with some fabulosso inspiration, she also has a great blog with scrumptious candy!! She's celebrating a BIG birthday next week, but I reckon she's fibbin cos there's no way that lady looks THAT age!!! lol Most people would want to look that good when they are 25, let alone 40!!!!

Righty ho Im going for a coffee but will be back later with a bit more candy for you!!

Blog candy Alert!!!

Its absolutely DELICIOUS so head on over to say hi to Gill at Dollie Dewdrop ( I WANT THAT NAME!!) and leave her a comment. Her blog is well worth a visit so linga longa while...http://dolliedewdrop.blogspot.com/2008/09/blog-candy.html

Thanks to everyone who joined in my PPPP yesterday and left me cheery uppy comments. Of course it never rains in my life, it PIDDLES down! Paul (son) has been summonsed to the hospital today...they may be doing an op to remove the rest of his pancreas. So GREEDY these surgeons! Anyhoo I shall wait and see what happens there cos that will have a humungous bearing on what happens to me cos I aint going nowhere or having anything done until he's fixed good and proppa!

waahhhhaaaaaaaaay I balanced the petty cash first go (and only 2 days late!!)

On a sad note, well, not so much sad now but you now where Im coming from, today is the anniversary of the day Paul's father, Tony died. Its been 26 years. Hope you are resting in peace Tony xxx. He would have been 51 next week. I hope he is looking down and being ultra proud of his son!

Paula's Pancreatic Pity Party

Ok, lets be positive,,,I will have a while off work so I can just craft away. Ill lose weight, be able to lie in in the morning, get flowers and choccies, and I will never get pancreatic cancer. On the down side, its going to 'kin hurt!! Paul is still hurting although i reckon he did too much at the start and there is absolutely no way on earth I am going to be doing what he did!! Some of you know what Im talking about but to anyone who is wondering, tumours have found to be lurking in the murky depth of my pancreas. Apparantly benign..phewwwwwwww. Docs words "operation may be a possibility", wont know till I see her on 17th. Still, it cant be all bad or they would have me in now and whipping the old organs out as we speak! Chances are spleen will have to come out too..

Onto good things..I have received my stampin up order and I love the Hostess gift.. yummy yummy - no not chocolate, stampzzzzzz!

I need my mojo back (did I ever have any??) ASAP so I can think of lovely creative ways to use them.

Still no leccy in my shed, Mark has had other things to do, so we must get that sorted soon, cos I cant craft by moonlight now can I??

What else can I tell you? hmmmm oh yup, just been invited to a scary party...fancy dress..ill go as a witch so wont need to change...lol

So, thank you for joining me in my pity party, any cheery uppy comments will be gratefully accepted!!

Creations from the past...

managed to load them this time! Think our server was on a go slow!
This is the card I made for Hayley and John (parents of my gorgeous godson). They got married last June and Alfie was born just one day short of their 1st anniversary (on father's day..how cute!) Its fairly plain and simple, but I wanted it to co-ordinate with all the wedding stationery I made for them. The panel at the front is acetate and the lilac matches exactly the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses. I have put their monograms top right.

This is the card I made for Lil and Jason who got married the week after. It looked so much prettier in RL. Those lilies really stood out (lilies for Lil...lol) Again, the pink matched the bridesmaid's dresses.
This is one of the scrap book pages I am doing for the little girl next door who is a dancer. Ive done a couple more pages but no pics as yet. I was being quite frugal here as the hearts I punched out round the edge, I used for a small order of wedding invitations I was asked to make...LOL

woooooohooooooooo its Friday!!

and I'm only at work till 1 o'clock!! Got a busy weekend ahead...sister is coming to stay and we are going to Francesca's (step daughter) 18th party! I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone, she was 10 when I first met her. Still have no idea what I am going to wear...bearing in mind Chesca's mum etc will all be at the party...should be interesting....lol. I'm trying to decide between casual, elegant or casually elegant.....tough choice.

Anyhoo, I just want to thank you lovely people who read my whingey "I'm so sorry for myself" post and gave me such lovely words of encouragement. I think I'm going through one of my stages at the moment where I am really unhappy with myself, but Ill get over it..usually do. What isn't helping is this rift with my brother, which I have tried to mend, but he hears what he wants to hear so Ill leave it up to him. Apart from anything else though its upsetting my mum. :(

Last night I started a card for one of Mark's workmates who is retiring next week. He is a bike freak so I found a copyright free image of a Norton (old motorbike) and painstakingly cut it out. I might attempt to cut out all the spokes, but don't think I will be able to they are so thin. What I really want to do is layer it onto a map of the area he lives, but a...I don't know how to do that, and b...cant find a decent map...so that's that idea out of the window, I shall rip a page out of one of Mark's old map books instead (whats the betting Ill do that and he'll need it in a weeks time!)

Hmmm I was going to try and show a couple of cards I made last year the pics of which I have just found on my work pc, but cant do it for some reason, I will try later.

Going off for a bit of blurfing now before I start my filing..I WISH I could get into the habit of doing it as I go along, but I am such a procrastinator...lol I am following the flylady and have put a couple of thinsg in place, but, as they say Rome wasnt built in a day!

Anyway, again, thank you for boosting me up when I needed it most...I love you guys!!

OOOOOOh before I forget dont forget to check out all that lovely blog candy out there -

Pass The Butter, Please

This was emailed to me ages ago and I actually read it while cleaning out my folders, and it makes scarily interesting reading. Think Ill do a bit more research before I give up my Flora, but let me know what you think.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.
DO YOU KNOW the difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end; it gets very interesting!
Both have the same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods. Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .
And now, for Margarine... Very high in trans fatty acids. Triple risk of coronary heart disease. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol).. Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact; HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING ! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC. This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell different because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weenie microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?
Share This With Your Friends (if you want to 'butter them up')! Chinese Proverb: 'When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.' So... DO IT!

Today I saw an alien in the sky

It was big and round and shiny and WARM. I had to call a couple of the girls out to see it in case my eyes were deceiving me!

Well, I'm getting fed up with me. I sat and coloured 2 images with my prismas last night and just couldn't get it to go right! I had a vision of what I wanted but it didn't translate very well from brain to hand. Oh well..if at first you don't succeed...try again. I guess I'm getting a bit despondent too....you know when you post stuff and hardly anyone looks or comments. I guess I just need a boost now and then. In my journey through the land of blog I do try and read all my updates and try and comment on as many as my annoying connection at work will allow, cos I know how good they make you feel...anyway enough of this wallowing is self pity. Ive had my daily dose!

Talking of blog land..I am so completely and utterly gobsmacked by the amount of stunning creativity going on in the world of craft. You take one stamp...one sketch .one challenge .and people all over the world come up with their own interpretation and its amazing! I do not have the confidence or indeed the talent to join in with these challenges, but glad to see Roz and Shell are taking part...they are both so good at what they do (I name them specifically as I have known them for eons). I have so many blogs in my reader, I can barely get around...lol and each blog links to other amazing blogs...and so on and so on...ok I'm rambling and should be doing the payroll - just waiting for one itty bitty form and then I can get on!

Oh yes got the date for my endoscopy - 29 September ...the letter actually said 2009 but they made a typo so that's something to look forward too!! Got to go to Addenbrookes for that - what a pain!

Yipppee itty bitty form has turned up so I can get on...thanks for "listening" (if you got this far!)

PS Note to self to ask Roz how she does her siggy thingy

Yes..you've guessed it!

Remembering..

...all those people 7 years ago, who lost their lives in that dreadful attack in America. Remembering their bravery and sacrifice, those left behind and still mourning, those injured and still suffering, those who lost their homes and their livelihood, those who sat and watched, all over the world in shock and disbelief. Remembering the disruption and how things will never be the same again. Remembering those tall and graceful buildings that monopolised the city sky line. Remembering where I was and what I was doing on that fateful day. ...

My thoughts and prayers are with them all, and everyone else on this planet who is suffering and remembering.

Prismacolor Pencil and Customer Service

Do you remember last week I was having a whine about how my colouring in looks like next door neighbour's cat had had a hand in it? Well, a kindly soul recommended prismacolor pencils to me...I now have a box sitting at my side newly opened and looking pristine and gorgeous and I am so reluctant to use them as they look and smell so nice, anyhow, according to my many google searches, these are the " dogs doodahs" and will make my colouring look fabulous. I was given the email of a UK stockist and I have to say, if all you want is excellent customer service, then this is the chappy for you. I shall be trying them out when I get home (couldn't find a sharpener at work and my pen knife is blunt) and will report back. If anyone wants his email to ask any questions, prices, colour chart etc etc then email me reeve.paula@googlemail.com and Ill pass it on to you.

I shall (yeah yeah youve heard it all before...) load a few pics tonight of various bits n bobs, cards Ive made, scrap book pages, Nora and Wayne (pressie from Winnie...think about it!!) and my gorgeous delightful Godson Alfie who grows more delicious every day, until then , I best finish my sarnies and do some more reconciliation type thingies.

Later peeps

bootilishus blog candy

Hi

Chris over at Craftlings Cosy Corner has a mountain of gorgeous blog candy over at her blog
http://craftlingscosycorner.blogspot.com/ (wish I knew how to edit that bit!!) to celebrate 10,000 hits.

Anyhow, pop on over and check out her blog, a great blog I may say! Read all about her fantabulous news!!

Now then Chris has raised a very interesting argument (statement/opinion..call it what you will) regarding word verification. Now my stance is I HATE it. I can hardly read it and it takes up too much time, for very little reason, what do you all think?

I have cut and paste Chris' views for you, but do pop over and take a look, and follow a few simple instructions, you yourself, could be in with a chance of that delicious candy!!

ARGUMENTS AGAINST WORD VERIFICATION

Everyone will have their own view, but in my case, I regard the removal of word verification as a basic courtesy to my visitors who are kind enough to take the time to leave comments. Being aware of their comments through comment moderation, but not hindering them with word verification is the very least I can do to reciprocate their courtesy to me.The problem with word verification is that it takes too long. The characters are very often hard to decipher, and it’s frustrating when you get them wrong and have to re-enter the little suckers! So this campaign is on behalf of busy bloggers. Please spare a thought for the poor bloggers who work so hard at getting round as many blogs as possible to leave sprinkles of blessing and good vibes wherever they go. The terrible proliferation of this awful plague of word verification is a blight on their efforts to make the Land of Blog a cheerier place.
I think most people just have word verification switched on by default, not realising how easy it is to switch it off, and perhaps not realising how annoying it is for other bloggers. Either that, or they’re under the misapprehension that they will be bombarded with spam messages. This is not the case. I’ve had mine switched off now for three of the four months that I’ve been blogging, and have had two spam comments. The responses I’ve had from other bloggers to my earlier posts on this topic back this up. (You can see the comments in response to my previous post on this subject, HERE.)For safety’s sake, have comment moderation on for sure, but please consider canceling word verification on your blog. Maybe for a trial period, and see how you get on.Unless there are thousands of comments being left, comment moderation shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the blog owner, and other bloggers will also be more inclined to leave comments if they can see that you don’t use word verification. However, each to their own, and if you disagree with me, that’s cool. We can agree to differ and not visit each other’s blogs! lol ;o)
OK.. rant over. If you have read all the way to the end, thank you for putting up with it, and ~ obviously ~ do what you wish on your blogs, but I had to say something. I love to get around and leave comments, but word verification spoils the experience.
Of course, when I get my new job, all this will be academic to me, as I will then have a life, and I won't have time for much blog-hopping!! Not that blog-hoppers need to get a life.. Errr... think I'll stop digging now, before I get into REAL trouble!! lol ;o)Peace. :o)
EDIT: Interesting link HERE, provided by sharp-eyed Sammi (thank you, hun!).. Seems that 'Captcha' (the technique for identifying whether input is human or computer) is of little value, if any, anyway, as spammers have software that can break it. In which case, comment moderation is your only defence. Completely backs up my case.

ok what am I doing wrong?

ok you clever stampers!! Why is it I stamp the image ok, but colouring it in...whatever I use sakuras, h2o, water colours it looks absolute rubbish!! I follow all the tuts which look soooooo easy but I still manage to turn out tat. As for cutting out...well Ive tried close to line with scissors, craft knife and leaving a small teeny weeny border and its still looks ****. Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!!!

Help...dont need the stress!!! LOL

Hello, there's a stranger amongst us!

Hi Guys

Well its been a while, but to be honest Ive been feeling like **** and not felt up to doing anything much. Get my MRI results next week so hopefully it will be all good.

I have made a couple of cards I thought Id show you. They are not up to much either...lol

This is for my SIL and is made using papers from Nikky over at My Rubber Therapy Blog. Cut the shape using eazi box board and put an acetate jacket thingy round it. Its a bit wonky cos theres quite a lot of decoupage to try and scan!!

This is for Pat over the road, (I think she's 72 this year) just got to twiddle with it a bit as it looks a bit boring and put a sentiment on it. I scored and cut using the other scoring board, cant remember its name, then folded the pink around silver mirri, which of course looks black! Its a die cut decoupage cos I couldnt even get my head around cutting out!!

Just playing with pearlidoodles at the moment, and my cuttlebug, but Ive just lost all my energy so going to have a nap!

Before I go, we have a buddlia bush in our garden and earlier it was swarming with butterflies and Mark took some pics which I will try and show later.

And last but certainly not least, I will get Mark to take a pic of the fabulous pressie my dear friend Winnie sent to us. Thank you again Winnie and hope you are having the best time ever on holiday!!

Later peeps

WEll enjoy your day and Ill see you soon!

Roz..if you're reading this, Ive had a rethink on your tilda card and come up with a (well I think so) great idea, so will get that going today!!

The flower and matching sheets are from Nikky over at My Rubber Therapy Blog..link will be at the side later.
