The book in me...

they say we all have a book inside us so I have decided to try and write one! I have the title sorted out.."Living with M.E.N. - what's your type"Quite catchy huh? For those of you who dont know me, I have an incurable disease (my doctors words...definately not mine) which is known as Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, I am type 1. So far I think I have been lucky, only had to have my parathyroid glands removed, although "multiple" tumours have been found on and in my pancreas so watching and waiting to see what, if anything happens. My son who has not been lucky has had half of his pancreas removed as a result (and boy do I feel guilty...most folk give their kids a car, I give mine a syndrome!)

Anyway, as its a very rare syndrome, bit like rocking horse poo, I decided that I would try and write an informative, yet slightly tongue in cheek about it. Im posting this here as I think Id like a bit of encouragement...and where else could I get it??

Ill keep you informed X

Awards, cakes and other stuff

Firstly, thankyou Marion for my very first blog award...yayyyyyyyyy now then who shall I pass it on to?? hmmmm a zillion contenders so I shall be back later.

Cakes - went to see my lovely friend Roz yesterday after the hospital and she made a delicious cake...you can read all about the visit and see the cake here....http://roziesmumblings.blogspot.com/2008/10/paula-and-marks-visit.html and for a special treat...you get so see a piccie of my lovely hubby...you lucky people!! Not as lucky as me cos I get to see him all the time!!

Hospital...well good news is no op for the time being although its inevitable...have to have more tests, biopsies and the such which is a drag, but I must say I am relieved as we didn't know if they would whisk me in this side of Christmas. I was so nervous going my tum was in a turmoil.  They need to check what type of tumours they are and what rate they are growing and exactly how many...so a reprieve...phew!  Thanks to all those who sent me positive thoughts...they are working!!

Im off blog hopping now so will be back with any interesting stuff later...

Living with MEN

ahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that got your imagination working overtime didnt it??? No?? oh ok then.

Anyway, i though I would dedicate this post to MEN..no not the hunky chunky kind who bring you choccies, send you flowers, love ya to bits DESPITE your hoarding of craft stuff, dont mind TV dinners cos you "just gotta get this card done, blog read, freebie scrap kit downloaded, glitter out of me hair! you know the kind of thing, nooooooooo not MEN but M.E.N. AKA Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, in mine and Paul's case, type 1. OK, before you go switching off with a glazed cross eyed expression, the reason why I am writing this is, well cos I often get asked about it and AMEND (the Association for Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Disorders) are trying to bring a lot more awareness of this to a lot more people , particulary the medical profession. I am not going to bore you with all the details, BUT if you are interested, OR yuo know someone with it please do get in touch. I will leave you with a link http://www.amend.org.uk/.

Thanks for looking
